There are kinds of many classes of the gems from the mines of Skytop, including 300,000 standard cubic meters proved reserves of the obsidians. Obsidian is one of the igneous rocks, made of SiO2 not crystal. Obsidian is the colloidal substance by amorphous and microcrystalline substance. Obsidian is formed by rapid cooling of lava, so it is hard to crystallized, and it is an amorphous gem, with a shell type fracture.
Obsidians may be single color, or with fringes or with spots. The crystallite and trichite are the characteristics. Some are nonmetallic luster, some contain the “Snow” made by the bubbles and crystals inside, and some show the rainbow colors. Rainbow Obsidians are the most famous ones with the rainbow colors, and some contain ellipse fringes called single eye obsidians or double eyes obsidians. Rainbow single eye obsidians or rainbow double eyes obsidians are the most valuable because of the low productions and the beautiful appearance.
